MYP Areas of Interaction

MYP Areas of Interaction
1. Approaches to Learning:
In approaches to learning , students will be given tools and equipment to help them with their learning. The aim is to make students learn on how to learn. This will help them come up with their own ideas and help them to think in a wider range.

2. Community and Service:
Community and Service enables the students to get involved in their community they are apart of. This involves taking part in events, helping people or even starting an event. This helps the community and makes the student learn how to be more social.

Software Options for a Digital Portfolio

HTML:

HTML full name Hypertext Markup Language is software to create webpages and to present information that is on a webpage. The purpose of HTML is to read it's documents and put that information in a web page format that is visible.
Examples: http://sheldonbrown.com/web_sample1.html
                http://help.websiteos.com/websiteos/example_of_a_simple_html_page.htm
One of the advantages of HTML is it's consistency as it now is much easier to use and designers will know on how their webpage should be structured. The disadvantage is that main browsers support it whereas if you have another web browser then HTML websites might not work. I would think this is a good option for making a digital portfolio because it supports the developer of the website making everything easy.

FrontPage:

FrontPage is a Microsoft software that is discontinued. It is a web forming software where you can see a split view to enter the codes for the webpage and on the other half view how it looks like so that you can make minor adjustments. This is a discontinued program so there is not much information about it. I wouldn't use this to make my digital portfolio because little do I know about it and it was in use long ago so the program might have a few compatibility issues.

Dreamweaver:
Dreamweaver is another good web designing software. Dreamweaver was originally developed by Macromedia but then later took on with Adobe. This was originally meant to edit and create webpages.
Examples: http://dreamweavermenu.com/images/help/frontpage/d-open-website.jpg
                https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT0CbP0IwyMV9y-uZfLKe6K70P7t-HKSJLkC0-mNheTKIlGrxqi
The advantage of dreamweaver is that it gives you suggestions on coding in case if you don't know some codes. The disadvantage is that only 10% of the functionality is useful. I would use this software because it is convenient for digital portfolios however there is a few things the program has to improve on for it to be perfect.

Wiki:
A wiki is an online webpage that shows information in text format.
Examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_portfolio
                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
Wikis are made in a way that once a person talks about a subject, other people from outside can edit the information or add some more, this helps so that we get more ideas and knowledge about the subject. The disadvantage is that people can misuse this ability by adding bias information that can also add false information. This could be a good informative digital portfolio but it is just plain text, I plan on making something creative and that others can enjoy.
